Who is the Wandering Wordsmith?

Working with words is what I love. I have more than 25 years’ experience in marketing and public relations in the tourism, education and government arenas, and my areas of expertise include public relations, destination marketing, community relations, public affairs, media relations,  strategic communications,  publication production, cable TV show producing and special event planning.

Upon retirement from the City of Palmdale after 15 years leading the communications team, I continued to “work with words” as a public relations consultant helping individuals and organizations reach their goals through the power of words.  I am a former English teacher, an excellent grammarian, writer and editor and a consummate professional with an eye for detail.  My nickname is “Hawkeye.”

My clients include Osprey Nokomis Chamber of Commerce, Sorrento East Property Owners Association, United Way, JPW Communications, Davis Communications, Red Brick Pizza, Pepperdine University, Pure Imagination, Palmdale School District, the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, the City of Lancaster, and the Friends of the Library.

I know the importance of a consistent marketing message and brand that gives a company its unique identity.  I have launched corporate identity programs and written graphic standards manuals to guide users in the consistent and effective use of the brand.

I love education and earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Geneseo State College, a master’s degree in education from Albany State University and an MBA in marketing from Syracuse University. I had a childhood dream to live in sunny California and moved there in 1984 where I enjoyed a career in public relations in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas. I relocated to Nokomis, Florida in 2016 to pursue other writing and PR adventures.
